Curious about how we source and recommend employees? This episode delves more into our recruiting and profiling process as we feature our HR Manager, Angela. 😉
You will get first-hand, unbiased information about how our HR Department shortlists interested applicants, profile these applicants into what our customers are looking for, and all the steps in between that lead up to the actual employee-employer matchmaking in the outsourcing process. Here’s the transcript of how the interview went:
How hard is it for you to find people with specific skillset?
It will be boasting to say that it is hard because right now we do have a lot of candidates but it is more on the profiling of a specific skillset. Some skill sets are easy to find and some are hard to find because of the complexity of a role.
Which specific skillset is the easiest for you to find?
A bookkeeper is easy to find as well as social media roles. Some of the complicated ones are ales, tech, and medical writers.
What about content writers?
When I look for technical writers, I try to see if they also have experience in content writing so that I can somehow match the skillset with the role.
You’ve worked for US companies and local companies in the BPO or outsourcing industry, what can you say is the difference in your experiences?
Aside from the mode of communication, there’s not much of a difference because employees will always be employees. The problems that we have to deal with in the BPO industry are similar to problems we encounter in different industries.
Would you say that outsourcing-type jobs are more desirable to employees or do they prefer to work for local companies?
It depends. I think it is based on their preference on how they sign up or associate themselves with the company. But with the situation we have right now, they prefer to work for their current employer.
As the HR Director, what would you say to future employees or people who are looking to work for a BPO about expectations?
Expect belongingness. I have worked with BPO and non-BPO companies and I could say that working for Open Look is the best company ever. but maybe it’s because we align with our core values. I think right from the start when we connect with people that’s what they initially feel. The best advice is to look at the company culture, the track record of the owners, and the activity of the people.
What is the type of positions that are hard to fill?
My extra challenge is the ad sales roles. Because it is more challenging, I become more critical in recruiting and profiling candidates before I pass them.
This shows how much we value the quality of service we give to our clients and how important it is for us to abide by our core values in doing business.
